There are numerous amount of magazine publishers throughout the uk and across the globe, to name a few established publishers are Bauer, IPC and BBC. Focusing into the magazine as a whole there is an oligopoly in which the established magazines such as Bauer and other magazines based in the uk dictate 60% of the industry. Time inc engages with almost half of the uk adults in print. Not to mention that there award winning website reaches over 28 million global uses every month. This iconic brand increased there revenue later last month to $821 from $818. The figures produced clearly identifies the high degree of concentration of the ownership within the industry. It publishers for brands including NME, Look, Women and home, In style and Now. Today as it stands technology has advanced greatly, due to the expanding innovations in scientific technology. In this society we rely so greatly on our mobile devices and tablets which allow you to purchase online editions of magazines rather than the typical paper based option. However this comes with complications as it creates a high downfall in sales for the standard paper based option. People prefer to navigate to the app store rather than the local shop.
